Storyland Opens This Saturday

Last Minute Preparations Continue All Week as Family Theme Park Gets Ready To Celebrate 45th Anniversary

RENFREW, ON - 20 June 2011 - With the return of summer, fun arrives in Renfrew County as Storyland Park opens for its forty-fifth season this Saturday, June 25th. To help celebrate this milestone the park is planning special events all summer long.

Highlights planned for the coming season include:

- New shows from your favourite Storyland characters
- The return of the popular tube slide
- A brand new lookout at the top of Storyland Hill with spectacular views of the Ottawa Valley
- Storyland's mascot, Kuddels, 45th Birthday Party (August Long Weekend)

All of Storyland's most popular attractions will be returning as well including the Splish-Splash water spray park, the Jump & Bounce, the barnyard petting zoo, and our classic Fairytale Trail.

Unfortunately, there is some sad news amongst the celebration plans. Some of the more ambitious projects planned to begin this year have been temporarily placed on hold due to health problems of park owner Todd Mattila-Hartman, who this winter was diagnosed with cancer. A group of park staff, family members and volunteers have been working tirelessly to step in and keep things running smoothly during Todd's absence. "Words can't express how much I appreciate what everyone has done to help out" stated Mr. Mattila-Hartman. "This has been a difficult time for me, and I haven't always handled it well, but I'm looking forward to getting better and getting back to work."

Storyland is open daily from Saturday June 25th through Labour Day, Monday September 5th from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm. For more information on the park, its shows and attractions, or hours of operation, please visit www.storyland.ca.
